Collinwood was started in 1946, right after the ending of WWII by Anne and Scoop Collins, and their parents. The first cottage was ordered from a Sears catalog, and arrived in a stake back truck. During assembly of cottage #1, Scoop discovered there were no nails. Scoop and his father-in-law had to search the beach from other job sites. Cottage #2, which we now call Sanderling, and the Crow's Nest (the upstairs), was built a few years later. Over the next several decades, all of the other cottages of the property were constructed by Anne and Scoop, and their 3 sons, Skip, Tom, and John Collins.
